October 2011

Urbo has appointed Urbed and 5 plus Architects to lead the design of its West Bar project in Sheffield.

This 5 acre city centre project is being progressed in partnership with Sheffield City Council. Urbed will be responsible for urban design work and 5 plus will lead the design of individual buildings. The development is an office-led mixed use scheme aimed at major occupiers and new design work will be completed in 2012.

November 2012

How Planning has been appointed by Urbo to manage the outline planning application for its £250m New Bolton Woods project in Bradford.

This large scale regeneration scheme aims to transform some 200 acres of north Bradford and provide around 1,500 new homes in a sustainable settlement.

December 2011

Chesterfield Waterside has once again entered the Top 100 study for UK regeneration projects run by Planning Magazine.

We will find out next year how the project compares to its #50 placing in 2011. Our Bradford scheme at New Bolton Woods may be entered next year if the planning consent is achieved in 2012, allowing it to qualify for the list.

Urbo to take on Sheffield's West Bar Project

Sheffield City Council have formally approved plans to resurrect the flagship West Bar Project in the City Centre by working in partnership with Urbo. Urbo has agreed terms to take on the development, previously led by Castlemore before they were put into administration. Urbo have also been working with Price Waterhouse Coopers who are Administrators for Castlemore. Urbo own land within the site and together with the Council and PwC/Castlemore already control over half of the site area. Urbo will be responsible for negotiating to work with the remaining landowners and to take forward a high quality mixed use development on the edge of Sheffield City Centre.

Chesterfield Waterside announced as Finalist in 2011 Regeneration Awards

Urbo's work in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council has been recognized in the 2011 Regeneration and Renewal Awards. We have been announced as finalists under the category for Strategic Planning for Regeneration. The awards ceremony will be held in late September.

The UK Top 100 Regeneration Projects 2011 - Chesterfield Waterside moves up to #50

Chesterfield Waterside is now rated as the 50th largest urban regeneration project in the UK according to industry magazine Regeneration and Renewal. This is a move of 29 places in two years. The Top 100 Regeneration Projects listing is intended to provide an annual snapshot of the UK's most investment-hungry physical regeneration schemes.

Urbed Appointed to Mastermind Bradford Plans

Urbo has appointed acclaimed master-planners Urbed to work on the Canal Road Corridor partnership area in Bradford. The objective is to create a new sustainable neighbourhood with over 1000 new houses and a local centre containing shops and other facilities.

Huge Bradford Deal Completed

After a long period of careful preparation work, Urbo has completed on a massive Public Private Partnership venture with Bradford Metropolitan District Council to regenerate some 200 acres in the Canal Road/Bolton Woods area on the northern outskirts of Bradford City Centre. Master-planning work will begin straight away and the final scheme is expected to have a value in excess of £250M.

Urbo forms Housing Joint Venture Co - JAM Regeneration

Regeneration developer Urbo has formed a new Joint Venture company with Strata Homes, a regional house-building and construction company based in Yorkshire. The new joint venture, called Jam Regeneration, will provide Urbo with improved capability to delivery large-scale housing projects and give Strata better scope to work in mixed-use regeneration.

Chesterfield Waterside granted outline planning permission

The planning application for Chesterfield Waterside, one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK with an expected cost of almost £350M, was given the green light by Chesterfield Borough Council 15th March 2010, completing many months of negotiations.
